Marlow Navigation concluded the year with an elegant and memorable year-end celebration, “Unmask the Extraordinary: A Masquerade Party,” held at the Fiesta Pavilion, Manila Hotel. The event gathered distinguished guests from government, industry partners, stakeholders, employees, seafarers, awardees, and their families, with the presence of a company representative from Cyprus and the strong support of the Directors of Marlow, highlighting the organization’s global reach and unified leadership.

The program formally opened with a welcome address by Tony Galvez, CEO of Marlow Navigation, who warmly welcomed the guests and shared key updates on the company’s performance, challenges, and strategic direction. He also presented developments across the Marlow Navigation Group of Companies, including UMTC, emphasizing continued performance in digitalization, advanced technologies, and the integration of AI in maritime training, alongside the notable achievements of UMTC in strengthening training standards and operational excellence.

A major highlight of the evening was the recognition of long-serving personnel, particularly the 25-Year Seafarer Awardees, who each received USD 5,000 in appreciation of their dedication and loyalty. The celebration also honored 10-Year and 25-Year Land-Based Employee Awardees, as well as the company’s retirees for the year, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to Marlow Navigation’s journey.

Adding energy and excitement to the evening was an outstanding live band performance led by UMTC Managing Director, Engr Donald Bautista, setting a festive tone for the celebration. Guests also enjoyed a sumptuous buffet, exciting raffle draws—including major prizes—and an open bar, creating a lively and memorable atmosphere throughout the night.

The celebration concluded with music, dancing, and shared moments of enjoyment, reflecting the strong camaraderie and people-centered culture that define Marlow Navigation. During the high-level gathering, the IMO confirmed that Phase 2 of the comprehensive review of the STCW Convention will begin in the coming weeks. The next stage of the review will focus on specific amendments to ensure the Convention remains responsive to the accelerating transformation of the maritime sector — particularly in areas such as decarbonization, artificial intelligence, automation, and expanded digital systems onboard ships.
