Ukrainian Drone Attacks Strike Russia’s Rostov Region, Three Reported Dead

A series of Ukrainian drone attacks struck Russia’s southern Rostov region overnight, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to several others, according to regional authorities. Officials stated that one drone hit a cargo vessel moored at the port of Rostov-on-Don, causing a fire onboard. Two crew members were reported killed in the incident, while several others sustained injuries. Emergency services responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. In a separate incident elsewhere in the region, authorities reported that a civilian was killed following a drone strike that caused damage to local infrastructure. Details on the extent of damage are still being assessed.

Inland Cargo Vessel Seriously Damaged in Collision Near Dortmund

An inland cargo vessel sustained significant structural damage after colliding with a sheet pile wall near the Ellinghauser Straße bridge on the Dortmund–Ems Canal, according to maritime authorities and local emergency responders. The vessel, Anja 1, was transiting the canal with a cargo of scrap metal when it struck the fixed structure. The collision crushed the bow section, resulting in water ingress into the forward hull compartment. Initial assessments by emergency crews indicated that the flooding was severe enough to cause a temporary loss of onboard electrical power. Despite the damage, the vessel remained operational and proceeded under its own power to Hardenberg harbor, where it was safely moored for further inspection. Firefighters and water police were dispatched to the scene to support emergency response efforts. A portable generator supplied by emergency services temporarily restored power, allowing dewatering pumps to be operated and reducing the volume of water inside the damaged section.
