These events are significant annual milestones that honor the vital contributions of the maritime sector to the nation’s economy, global trade, and sustainable development. With the theme “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity,” this year’s celebration emphasizes the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in safeguarding the oceans while recognizing the opportunities they provide for growth, livelihood, and innovation. The theme also reflects the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) vision of ensuring safe, secure, and sustainable shipping, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). National Maritime Week in the Philippines features a variety of activities organized by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and other government and private sector partners.
