The death toll from the MV JUNE ASTER fire incident in Coron, Palawan, has risen to 35, while 54 people remain unaccounted for as of September 12, according to the latest figures released by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The PCG reported that 30 bodies were recovered from inside the burned vessel, bringing the total number of confirmed fatalities to 35. Authorities also reported 43 survivors from the incident.

Search and retrieval operations continue as authorities work to locate those who remain missing. The PCG, Philippine National Police Scene of the Crime Operatives (PNP-SOCO), and other concerned agencies are undertaking the recovery and identification of the remains in accordance with established procedures.

Further information on the missing individuals and the identities of those who died is expected to be released once officially confirmed by authorities.
