Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen to single digits, with only seven vessel transits recorded on Wednesday, September 9, according to preliminary ship-tracking data.

The figure dropped from 12 vessels the previous day and remained well below the 10-day average of 14 transits. Of the seven vessels recorded, four exited the Strait while three entered.

Among the vessels leaving was the very large crude carrier Finland Prosperity, carrying nearly two million barrels of crude oil. No liquefied natural gas tankers were recorded leaving the Strait during the period. Other transits involved dry bulk carriers and product tankers.

Ship-tracking figures may not reflect all actual vessel movements, as some ships could be operating with their AIS transponders turned off. Meanwhile, traffic through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait remained comparatively steady, with 28 commodity vessels recorded, close to its 10-day average of 27.
