Intership Crew Philippines officially launched the INTERSHIPCares: The Seafarers’ Reintegration Program on July 25, 2026, at the Intership-IM Lounge, PITX Tower 4, Parañaque City. Carrying the theme “Beyond Voyage, A Horizon of Opportunities,” the initiative aims to help Filipino seafarers transition to sustainable shore-based livelihoods through entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and other income-generating opportunities after their careers at sea.
The launch brought together maritime stakeholders, government agencies, industry partners, and members of the maritime community who shared a common goal of strengthening support systems for Filipino seafarers. The program highlighted the importance of preparing seafarers not only for successful careers at sea but also for life after sailing, ensuring they have access to opportunities that promote financial stability and long-term growth.
Among the government officials present were MARINA Director Luisito U. Delos Santos, Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Assistant Secretary Ogie San Diego, and Department of Agriculture (DA) Director Junibert E. De Sagun. During the event, they emphasized the value of collaboration between government agencies and the private sector in creating sustainable reintegration programs that respond to the changing needs of Filipino seafarers and their families.
The event also showcased a wide range of partner organizations offering services related to livelihood development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, healthcare, insurance, and welfare assistance. These organizations introduced programs designed to equip seafarers with practical knowledge and resources that can help them establish stable sources of income while onshore.
Through the initiative, participants were encouraged to explore opportunities beyond traditional maritime employment, including small business ventures, agricultural projects, and other community-based enterprises. The program reflects a growing recognition that career transition planning is an important part of a seafarer\'s professional journey, helping them build resilience and prepare for life after years of service at sea.
With the launch of INTERSHIPCares, Intership Crew Philippines reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the long-term welfare and successful reintegration of Filipino seafarers. By bringing together government agencies, private partners, and support organizations, the program seeks to create a stronger network of opportunities that empowers seafarers to build sustainable livelihoods and continue contributing to their families and communities beyond their voyages.
