A Greek-owned crude oil tanker reportedly suffered an external explosion while transiting waters near Muscat, Oman, adding to growing security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz region. According to information released by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the incident occurred approximately 60 nautical miles off the Omani coast.

The vessel, identified as Olympic Life, was reportedly struck on its port side near the waterline. Initial assessments indicated that one of the tanker’s bunker fuel tanks sustained damage due to the blast, leading to a minor fuel leak into surrounding waters. Maritime authorities said the spill was quickly contained and no major environmental impact had been reported as of the latest update.
