Manila, Philippines — The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), an attached agency of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), highlighted its strong record in governance, regulatory reform, and institutional leadership during the “Kwentuhan with the MARINA Administrator” held at the MARINA Central Office in Manila.

During the event, MARINA presented its recent national recognitions that underscore the agency’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and people-centered public service. Among these is MARINA’s recognition as a recipient of the Anti-Red Tape Authority’s (ARTA) Good Governance and Regulatory Excellence Top Award, affirming its leadership in regulatory improvement and service delivery.

MARINA was also conferred the Wind Vane Award by the Department of Science and Technology – PAGASA, recognizing its contribution to maritime safety and the effective dissemination of weather and navigation-related information to the maritime sector.

In the area of financial governance, MARINA received an Unmodified Opinion (Unqualified Opinion) from the Commission on Audit (COA) for its Calendar Year 2024 Financial Statements, reflecting sound financial management and full compliance with auditing standards

Further demonstrating its responsiveness to public concerns, MARINA achieved a 100% resolution rate and an 89% compliance rating, as acknowledged by the 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center. The agency also earned a Special Citation from the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) for its participation in the Paperless Productivity Challenge, highlighting its continued push toward digital transformation and sustainable government operations.

These recognitions collectively reflect MARINA’s sustained focus on leadership excellence, good governance, and continuous improvement—strengthening its role in advancing the Philippine maritime industry and delivering efficient, transparent services to the public.

MARINA Administrator Sonia Malaluan expressed her gratitude to the men and women of the Maritime Industry Authority, acknowledging the collective efforts of MARINA employees whose dedication and professionalism made these achievements possible.
