VALHAREANS CLASS OF 2025 GRADUATES FROM MAAP — A NEW GENERATION OF MARITIME LEADERS SETS SAIL
May 27, 2025

Under the clear skies of Kamaya Point, the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) proudly held the Graduation Ceremony of the Valhareans Class of 2025, marking the culmination of years of rigorous training, discipline, and leadership formation.

Presided over by Dr. Conrado F. Oca, Chairman of the MAAP Governing Board, the solemn event honored the 175 graduates who now join the global maritime industry as licensed officers of the sea. The ceremony welcomed Mr. Simon Spacey, Incoming Chairman of the International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC), as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, underscoring MAAP’s strong partnership with international maritime stakeholders.

The Valhareans— standing for Valiant Altruists to Linger the Hushed and Restless Oceans — symbolize courage, service, and unity. Their chosen theme, “Valharise: The Valharean’s Rise and Farewell,” reflects both triumph and humility, celebrating a journey that began with uncertainty and ended in honor.

The event showcased the cadets’ final march, salute, and oath-taking — a stirring moment that echoed through MAAP’s parade grounds. Families, faculty, and guests witnessed their transformation from young aspirants to officers ready to command vessels and lead crews across the world’s oceans.

Beyond the medals and honors, the ceremony stood as a testament to MAAP’s enduring mission: to produce world-class Filipino maritime professionals committed to excellence and service. As they embark on their next voyage, the Valhareans Class of 2025 carry not only their training and discipline but also the legacy of a brotherhood anchored in integrity and resilience.

Fair winds and calm seas — the Valhareans now sail forward, leaving behind a wake of pride and inspiration.
