Pasay City, Philippines — June 21, 2025. The maritime community came together in full force for the 16th FAME “Go Marino Go! Healthy Body, Healthy Mind” Fun Run, which set a new record as the most attended fun run since the event’s inception. Organized by the Filipino Association for Mariners’ Employment, Inc. (FAME), the event gathered an impressive 5,300 registered participants across the 3K, 5K, and 10K race categories, marking a milestone moment for both health advocacy and maritime solidarity.

This year’s theme, “Sustainability Run,” highlighted the maritime sector’s growing commitment not only to wellness but also to sustainability and collective action for the betterment of seafarers and their families. Held at Liwasang Ulalim, CCP Complex, Pasay City, the event coincided with the International Day of the Seafarer, giving deeper significance to a celebration already rich with symbolism and purpose.

What began as a fitness activity transformed into a meaningful movement of unity, as runners from different manning agencies, maritime organizations, and stakeholders—alongside their families—filled the streets in a colorful display of resilience and camaraderie. The sight of thousands running together underscored the message that the maritime industry thrives not only through its ships and trade but through its people: healthy, resilient, and empowered. Beyond the competition, the fun run also sought to raise awareness on key issues affecting seafarers, particularly on health and welfare. With seafarers often exposed to challenging working environments, FAME’s annual run reminded everyone that wellness and sustainability are crucial components of building a stronger and safer maritime workforce.

The atmosphere was festive, with raffle draws, games, and side activities engaging both runners and supporters. At the heart of the event, however, was the unmistakable sense of solidarity—families cheered from the sidelines, colleagues supported one another, and the maritime sector once again showcased its spirit of collective advocacy. The day culminated in an awards ceremony honoring the top finishers across all categories.

Among the standout performances were Jose Ronnieco Reforma of Marlow Navigation Phils., Inc., who clocked in at 0:10:34 to win the 3K male category, and Princess Dianna Marrey David of Magsaysay Maritime Corporation, who topped the 3K female category at 0:14:38. In the 5K run, Vincent Arvin Avestruz of Crewcare, Inc. won the male division with a time of 0:17:34, while Jerelyn Manggaga of Magsaysay Maritime Corporation led the female category at 0:27:34. For the 10K distance, Romeo Panti of Crewcare, Inc. secured first place in the male division with a time of 0:37:06, and Jessica Dale Bautista of Wallem Maritime Services, Inc. won the female division, finishing at 0:56:09.

While medals and rankings brought cheers, the true victory of the day lay in the shared commitment to health, unity, and sustainability. With this record-breaking turnout, the 16th FAME Fun Run etched itself in maritime history as not just a race, but a celebration of wellness, advocacy, and community spirit. Organizers and participants alike are already looking forward to the 17th edition, eager to build on the momentum of this landmark event. The Sustainability Run stood as a powerful reminder that every stride taken by the maritime community is a step toward a healthier industry and a more resilient future.
